Spring 2003 - time for improvements!

Phase I - Hinges, Latches, and Water

Phase 1 involves replacing the present hinges on the entrance gates with self-closing hinges and installing improved latches along with estimates and plans for extending the water line to the small dog section of the park, as well as providing a future human and doggy water fountain adjacent to the outside walkway.

Thanks to you, funds are now available for the hinges and latches, but completing the water line requires additional contributions.

Phase II - Gravel and Stone Pavers

Phase 2 involves adding gravel to the large dog park entrance area and installing stone pavers leading up to the entrance and around the bulletin board.

This phase of the project is costly. Contributions are welcomed.

Phase III - Trees and Shrubs

Using your contributions and funds raised the Barkin' Bash, we have contracted a landscaper to plant three trees and nineteen shrubs at the entrance and along the fence of the large dog section of the park.

Phase IV - Lend a helping paw and dig the earth

please helpPhase IV of our plans will take place in early May 2003  (not Earth Day, as originally planned) and involves extending the plantings of forsythia along the fence down to the small dog area, plus any needed sprucing up of the park.

We are looking for volunteers and contributions for our helping paw project.

Crystal Ball Gazing

While the initial practical improvements get underway this spring, we all look forward to future projects to enhance playtime at the park. Some things that are being considered:

  • gazebo
  • benches
  • equipment (toys and toybox)

If you're looking to donate some time, consider becoming a Bark Ranger - you can volunteer and still play with your dog!
